We haven't seen many standout campaigns in mobile marketing over the last five years. But every now and then, some truly epic campaigns pop up in this market πŸ”₯

Clash of Clash took FAKE ADS to another level πŸ’€ 😬 


Two years ago, Clash of Clans celebrated its 10th anniversary!

But what is 10 years in gaming, right? They faced the fact that true gamers love games with the history and lore they lacked. So how in the world can a mobile game match masterpieces like The Legend of Zelda or Super Mario?

Easily. You make the whole thing up! πŸ˜… 

Instead of 10 years, Clash of Clash celebrated 40 years. 

It's the biggest fake ad ever!

How? They created a custom 20-minute documentary with Clash "Historians", created their own cereals that were supposed to be made 20 years ago, streamers opened collectible cards from the past, and, what I appreciate the best, they’ve made β€œold” versions of their game fully playable in the app developed just for this occasion. 


Campaign included fake Clash Historians.


Clash gave their fans the biggest gift. The whole universe of their favorite game to explore as if they had grown up with it. This is how you bond with your audience, love and play your game for at least the next 10 years :)


Fake CoC games from the past were playable in the game.


But did someone really appreciate the creativity? Except for tens of thousands of positive reactions from the fans, they were also awarded 3x GRAND PRIX Awards at the Cannes Lions festival πŸ₯‡ πŸ₯‡ πŸ₯‡ Watch the whole video about the campaign here.

Fun fact: 
The campaign left fans questioning the authenticity of the presented history, creating a "Mandela Effect" where viewers were left wondering if they really remembered the things they were seeing. πŸ˜€
